I would say this is arguably the greatest thriller anime ever made, it's so tense and suspenseful in scenes. This anime shattered all preconceptions I had going into it, don't be put off by the silly comedy in the initial episodes. Do not miss it. It's got good art work, an interesting soundtrack and a great female lead character. This anime often repeats the events of previous episodes (reminds me of how the film Groundhog Day was done), the thing is to be patient. It definitely has merit, I just feel it could have been better. I'm sure many people will adore Toradora! I think it's an underrated school life comedy. The characters are well fleshed out overall and each gets enough screen time. Gungrave is made by the same creator who made Trigun... and in my opinion this anime is the better of the two. This anime uses the "misunderstandings" effect a lot, particularly in the second season (a method Maison Ikkoku had been using over 25 years earlier), that's not to say Kimi ni Todoke doesn't do it well I'm just pointing out it has been done. Nonetheless certainly for experienced and adult anime viewers this is an essential watch. Why you ask? It's an anime for those interested in a brilliant plot and exceptional character development. This show will make many tremble and a lot of you will be watching scenes through your hands. (The only thing holding this back from being a perfect 10/10 is the slight issues with animation and the underwhelming music). Elfen Lied has become huge in the medium of anime due to its obvious effort to shock and entertain, for the most part it succeeded in doing that. If you hold merit for engaging plot, are exhilarated by action scenes with large doses of violence and don't abhor nudity this is definitely the anime series for you.
